| There are a number of possibilities as to why your receipt printer isn't working in Rapid Rental. If the printer is plugged in via a Parallel port (not usb connection) and you will not be printing to it in Windows, you could try deleting the printer reference in the Printer control panel under Windows. Then in Rapid Rental set C-C-A-5 to LPT1. This setup should at least enable you to print some form of receipt onto the receipt printer. If you are lucky, it will look proper - however more than likely since your receipt printer was not purchased through TVL, you will need to set C-C-A-A to Custom then review the printed output. It will in most cases need to be modified slightly. If you move into C-C-7-E using RECEIPT.TXT as your guide (a tutorial file located in the folder Rapid Rental is installed to - usually VIDEO) you should be able to get the receipt output looking the way you want. If it proves to be to daunting, you could try out one of the receipt files we ship with our Star printers - follow this FAQ link for instructions. They might work for you, although they are designed for Star receipt printers so I couldn’t say whether it would with your Epson. As for getting your cash drawer to operate – if you plug your receipt printer into the Parallel port, you can set C-C-A-3 to 8 and After. That may allow the program to send a signal through the printer port out to the cash drawer. Again, this may not work because I have seen it fail going through an Epson receipt printer once before. We do sell PCI cards that can interface with your cash drawer card if it won’t work through the receipt printer. If your Epson receipt printer plugs in Via USB, then I have my reservations for success. You might be able to get the program printing to it using the Apex Windows Print Driver setup as seen in the Manual, however if you have another windows USB printer you use to print reports on getting them both to work will be nearly impossible. Also, triggering your cash drawer if the receipt printer is USB will also be nearly impossible unless you get lucky with a redirect command. If your Epson receipt printer plugs in via a COM port let us know because there are some redirect commands that can be issued to make it print – however you still might need the PCI cash drawer card if setting the C-C-A-3 to 8 and After doesn’t pop the drawer. Hope that covers things – let us know if this does or doesn’t hit the mark. Steve (posted - 25.November.2005.12.20.pm) -- | |
| I am having similiar problems. We have upgraded to Windows XP. The printers work fine. The cash drawer won't open. It's connected to the PC using the "telephone cord" style connection. I've tried ComPorts 1-4 in "POS808.exe." There is no option for ComPort 8. I make sure what's in "POS808.exe" matches what's in C,C,A,3. The drawer will not open.
