| Rapid Rental Forum >> General Discussion >> 7 Day Rentals Showing as 1 Day | |
| Hi There,
Windows XP Pro running build 46 (July 21, 2006) networked with 2 other Windows XP Pro systems.
The primary problem we are encountering is that movies that have a 7 day rental period are suddenly showing up as 1 day rentals. Some 1 day rentals have been showing up as 7 day rentals.
It seems to be random and does not correlate with any time or date that they were entered (i.e., old movies that have been in the database are equally affected as new ones).
Any thoughts on the cause or how we can fix this?
Thanks!

| Hi Matthew, It seems apologies are in order, the trigger to email wasn't working properly for some reason. There are a few different possibilities here. First thing I would check is whether a rental cost has been assigned to the movie. Bring it into the change movie screen and see if thats the case - if it is, then it overrides the grids and turns it into a 24 hour rental. Clearing the rental cost off of all movies should resolve this (Press C-5-7-7 from the Main Menu) The next thing I would look at is whether the pricing method was changed. Review your setting for C-C-A-B ... note what it is currently, change it to the other choice, then try your rentals - does this resolve? If not flp the setting back to what it was. Let me know if either of those hit the mark. Thanks,
Steve

| Hi Steven and Phil - thank you for the instructions!
I've checked the settings and all looks as it should.
I have a small clarification to make (one I didn't understand until this morning).
The respective movies are all showing as they should (i.e., a 7 day IS showing as a 7 day) when you pull up the individual movies... however, when you check the LATE LIST it is showing as a 1 day.
The worst part is that it seems to be random - SOME of the 7 days show as 1 day in the late list... but not all of them.
So this is wreaking havoc on our late lists and our customer accounts (i.e., they are being charged for rentals that are not overdue).
Thank you for any help or insight!

| Hello Matthew, At the time of rental, did these movies show as 7 day or 1 day? In every situtaiton I've seen this type of thing come up, there was a rental cost assigned to the offending movie - please run the C-5-7-7 on all movies and let me know if the problem persists. If it does, perhaps there is a special that is kicking in that is changing the # of days rental from 7 to some other # - ex. Special Offer Pricing (C-C-O), or Consecutive Day Pricing (C-C-H)
Thanks | |
| Hi Steve,
>>please run the C-5-7-7 on all movies and let me know if the problem persists.
Done - and the problem seems to have disappeared. Thank you!
Please note, not a one of these movies had any special pricing or anything different than the rest... but running this DID seem to fix the problem.
Thank you for the help - it is greatly appreciated.

| Hi all,
It seems that this error is re-occurring... and the c577 fix doesn't seem to work anymore.
Here are some updated bits of info:
This error has been observed to occur when:
If a customer is owing any late fees and they go to rent a 7 day rental it will show up on screen as being a 7 day rental... when you then go to check the late list that customer who just rented a 7 day will show up as having to return that movie tomorrow (i.e., it became a 1 day rental).
Any thoughts?
All input greatly appreciated as I am simply not familiar enough with this software...
Thanks!
